Bamboo

Guess what, a collab with Lucera again. Andris, the waiter, chef and manager of our favourite restaurant, had asked us for an image with a calm mood and some bamboo and / or palm trees. As we couldn't decide between the two, the one in the foreground is a bamboo-plant while the trees in the background are real palm trees. Unfortunately he didn't hang it (up?) and we also didn't get the free dinner he promised us because he was tricked with his rent and had to close. It's sad... That restaurant was somewhat like a second home for me. I knew everyone there, the food was excellent and I always had the feeling of dinning in a strange but comfortable living-room with the ones I like.
Back to the image... In contrast to the rest of our pics, we had to draw this one without very many references. The left-hand side is a tiny little bamboo-picture from the internet which Lucera copied in hard detail-work, while I referred to some palm-trees from my mother's vaccuum flask (or whatever is the english word for it), adding an improvised background for the right-hand side. Planning the picture, we remembered that the background has to go on behind the bamboo as well, however when we finally came to it, we forgot. Nevertheless I'm quite content with the result and Andris appreciated it, too.

Time: Less then normally... Maybe 3 hours instead of four.
